Improving the educational infrastructure for local communities, providing access to adequate training in market-relevant skills to youth, and creating more opportunities for developing talent are among the foremost focus areas of our initiatives aimed at Education & Skilling.
We work towards improving the quality of education for children in government schools near our areas of operation. Our teams have worked towards strengthening educational amenities, digital learning tools and rooftop solar solutions for schools.
Sembcorp's vocational training programmes aimed at the youth and rural women impart a broad range of skills such as agriculture techniques, tailoring, making candles and incense sticks, salon & grooming, micro-entrepreneurship as well as providing basic IT literacy. Our Kaushalya program is designed to train the youth for employment and entrepreneurship by deploying dual vocational education and training.
Reflecting Sembcorp India's commitment towards SDGs, our Krishi Mitra initiative is aimed at providing farming communities around our operation sites with access to sustainable agricultural and livelihood enhancement services. As a step aligned with SDG 11 and to tackle various challenges faced by these communities, we introduced an innovative method of agriculture - the Integrated/Composite Farming system. By promoting this location-specific system, we hope to make agriculture more productive, sustainable, and climate-resilient.
