Global Wind Day is an opportune moment to reflect on the pivotal role that wind energy plays in our journey towards a greener future. Wind energy stands at the forefront of renewable energy solutions, offering a clean, abundant, and reliable source of power, for a sustainable tomorrow for millions.
In this regard, the pioneering role of the Indian wind energy sector in our collective efforts to transition towards renewable energy sources, is commendable.
Today, India is leading the narrative for wind power globally, with the industry ranking the fourth largest in the world, in terms of installed capacity. The country is a key player in the global wind energy supply chain, with its decisive strategy to boost manufacturing and export capabilities while fostering domestic renewable energy growth.
Favourable government policies have led the way for national and international players to develop the sector into a global powerhouse. New technologies such as hybrid (wind-solar) models, green manufacturing, floating wind turbines, AI-powered predictive maintenance, and offshore wind energy are accelerating the pace of wind energy industry.
India’s commitment is reflected in the targets that we have set- 500GW of RE capacity by 2030, which includes 140 GW of wind energy. To put it in perspective, this is sufficient power to light up 100 million households.
On this Global Wind Day, Sembcorp reiterates its commitment to optimise this clean energy source for a cleaner energy future. Together with our stakeholders, we will drive the wind energy revolution forward — one turbine at a time
