From Shipping Wind Turbines to Helping Little Dreams take Flight

At Sembcorp, sustainability and community development go hand in hand. To help improve school infrastructure in a sustainable manner around its areas of operation, we upcycled wooden packing boxes from our wind turbines into school benches and desks. At our SECI 3 wind power projects in Bhuj, Gujarat, we provided 140 upcycled benches to Shree Gadhsisa Mafat Nagar School and Shree Saraswati Primary and Middle School, benefitting more than 400 students in the locality. In addition to meeting infrastructure need, this initiative also helped reduce waste and supported circular economy practice. Beyond upcycling, Sembcorp supports education across schools in its operational areas by providing smart boards, laptops, and basic amenities to enhance teaching quality and student performance, especially in urban slums and rural regions of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh. We also ensure access to safe drinking water facilities in most village schools. Education plays a vital role in nation-building. Through focused initiatives, interventions, and programmes in education, healthcare, and skills development, within local communities, Sembcorp helps young minds to pursue their dreams.
